New Blog

Please check out our new blog... I don't know if there is a way to combine the 2 (if there is and anyone wants to share, please do!) I could continue to write on this one, but I like the other one better. Kyle and I are in such a great place and want to share!

Going Private?

I know a lot of people have their blogs private and I never really understood why you wouldn't want people to read up on your life and your adventures. I LOVE updating our blog and I love looking back and seeing what we did and when we did it. But lately I have been seeing more and more why people go private. Kyle and I do what we want to do, we care about other people's feelings but lately we have realized that it is our lives and we want to do what we want to do, regardless. So when I post our adventures and activities, people attempt to make Kyle feel guilty for spending time with his wife and son. We know that other people are important, but our lives and job schedules are so hectic that more often than not, the little time we do have to spend, we want to spend alone together. I feel that since some people seem to not know boundaries and when it is appropriate to add their "two cents", it might be best to go private so we don't have to deal with the drama. It is not something we need right now nor is it something neither Kyle or I want to deal with anymore. So what do you think? Any opinions are greatly appreciated. And send me your email if you want to be invited, if I do decide to do it, there will not be a notice... I will just do it. Thanks!

Jay's Homecoming

We traveled down to Las Vegas for my little brother's homecoming talk in church. It was a fun weeked with family and friends. I am glad we were there to be able to support my little brother, especially considering how supportive of our family he has been. He gave an amazing talk and truly invited the Spirit into the meeting.
Kyle's best friend was in town for a few weeks so we got to go to dinner with him and his wife and their cute little boy! It was a lot of fun! Great food and even better company!
The Kyle's and their boys Our little family at dinner.

After church, the kids wanted to play outside and it was a nice day, so what better way to play than in the water! We attempted to play with Jaxton... he didn't mind so much as long as someone was holding him! When Jaxton started crying, cousin Ethan came over to check on him! It was so sweet! We thought it was so funny to play jokes on the kids. This is my brother's son, Conley. We would tell him the water broke and he had to shake it to fix it. He would start to shake the hose and we would turn it back on. That joke just didn't get old!
What a great weekend we had! And it is great to have Jay home!

Crazy Hair

I actually have a lot to update in just the past couple weeks, but for now I just want to share this picture of my sweet little boy. No matter what I do with his hair, it usually ends up looking like this...

Jaxton will be thanking his dad for the lovely cowlick in the back of his hair causing such a fabulous 'do! I guess I should be grateful that he has hair, and I am, but I refuse to cut his hair yet and unfortunately by the end of the day, it always looks like this!

EXCEPT for the days that I don't bother to comb it at all... then the top curls and the bottom stays straight! Sorry for the bad luck kid!

Jaxton's baby blessing

We had Jaxton's baby blessing this past Sunday, May 23, 2010 in our ward in Cedar City. Kyle and I decided when we first found out I was pregnant that we wanted to wait until my brother returned from his mission to bless our little boy. It was such a great day and we truly appreciate the people who love and support Jaxton enough to come. Kyle did a great job with the blessing, he was definitely in-tune with the Spirit and knew what Jaxton needed. It was an incredibly special day for our family!
Cute side note... I went out looking for Jaxton a tie for his blessing and there are not a lot of options here in Cedar City. We do have a consignment store, so I figured, why not... they usually have a lot of random stuff. The girl pulled out all of the ties that they had and I saw the one Jaxton is wearing and remembered Kyle having the exact same tie, only real size! So I got it. It made Kyle so happy that he could match his little boy! Our little family after the blessing.

Elder LaPratt no more...

My little brother came home from his mission on Monday, May 17, 2010. What an exciting and special experience for my family. Jay was in a brutal motorcycle accident about 3 years ago, leaving him in a position to barely be able to use his his arms and having struggle with the skill of walking, which I think we all take for granted and we all wondered if it would cause him to not go, but ultimately it made him stronger and more determined to go. He would write me so many letters about knowing that the Lord prepared him to come on a mission when he was ready and when the time was right so that he could effectively preach the gospel to the people of Spokane, WA. He was almost 2 years older than most of the other "new" missionaries, but Jay has a determined spirit and he will not be held down. I remember talking to him once and he said he was grateful for his mission because of the blessings it has brought into the lives of him family. But now he is home, and he is still in that awkward, new missionary stage... but time will change that. He already loves Kyle and Jaxton, and that means the world to me. I am so proud of Jay and the choices he has made in life. He has been my best friend since high school and has always stuck up for me, even when I am wrong, he had my back. When I got to hug him in the airport, it took us awhile to let go... he kissed the top of my head and said "I love you sis"... and then Kyle reached out for a handshake and Jay wasn't having that... Brother's don't shake hands, brother's gotta hug, right? So the LaPratt clan is all back together and I am excited to see where our lives take us!

Family Pictures

A few weeks ago, I wanted to do some family pictures so we could give them to our moms for Mothers Day. We have a good friend who is really into photography and he offered to do them for us. I love the way they turned out!
